For those of you returning to schools in SA this week I hope you have had the most restful two weeks and that term two is full of positive productive energy.
Welcome to my first newsletter for 2017.
I am really excited about what this year will bring in our ongoing educational adventure to make learning better for children and adults! After just over 6 months of working for myself I think I have a plan! A plan which I hope continues to have some rebel in it! The key elements of my work continue to be:- Curious Stranger (not a critical friend) - working with school communities on improving their educational practice - clearly with a focus on innovation.
As some of my “old” colleagues well know I have struggled with blogs and the such like since 2013 when I made the commitment to write a principal’s perspective (or blog) weekly! Did it, but the effort nearly killed me and every attempt since then has been a one-off! So I thought I would begin some sort of erratic writing again as I have a new (much more relaxed) role.
On Wednesday 26th October I was incredibly pleased and proud to have been awarded a John Laing Award.
Finally did it! Quit! Been "doing school" for nearly 60 years- hope to think I would be good at it by now!
